Friends of Durham Tees Valley Airport voted for a new Chairman on Friday 9th January at their Annual General Meeting following the now-previous holder Colin Granton scaling back to a specially-created Consultancy role.
Brian Robinson, who has held a position on the FoDTVA committee for most of our two year existence and secured us two seats on the Airport Consultative Committee, was voted unanimously as the new Chairman and is looking forward to getting stuck into the role and taking FoDTVA into an exciting new chapter.
As a thank you to Colin for all of his hard work building FoDTVA from scratch into what it is today, Secretary Chris Smith presented him with a bottle of 12 year old Glenlivet single malt Scottish whisky on behalf of the committee, members and Durham Tees Valley Airport. Unfortunately for us, Colin’s paid work as a Service Engineer has seen a three-to-four fold increase, meaning he no longer has sufficient free time to continue in the crucial role of Chairman.
The committee remains otherwise unchanged, with all members being voted back in to their respective positions for 2015. The appointment of a new role, a Recruitment Officer, was postponed until the February meeting.

New Membership System
Although we’ve operated this system unofficially for a few months now, we launched a new two-tier membership plan at our AGM. Our “Lancaster” plan offers priority places on any events and trips we are involved in and entitles members to FoDTVA merchandise and costs £12.00 per year. The “Lightning” plan is free but restricts members to e-mail bulletins only.
