Highlights of the Past Year

2024 was a significant year for both our group and the airport. We held a number of events, such as May’s charity walk to raise funds to place two memorial stones to William McMullen and Andrew Mynarski at the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincolnshire.

We also helped celebrate the airport’s 60th anniversary with a special evening in the Sky Bar.

There were a number of successful outings and trips, to Draken, Newcastle Aviation College and RAF Leeming, as well as our summer BBQ.

The airport saw a lot of positive change, with the arrival of Airbourne Colours and lots of new business for Willis.

Looking Ahead

The next year, we hope, will be just as positive and interesting.

As a group we plan to run our regular events, like supporting the Lourdes charters and winter Santa flights to Lapland.

We also want to hold some social events, and welcome you all to our regular meetings.

Other events we’re planning include a trip to visit the memorial stones in Lincolnshire, followed by a trip to RAF Conningsby, where the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight are based.

Other potential visits include the aviation college in Hartlepool, and hopefully returning to manning our stall at various summer shows and events to help highlight our airport.

We thank you all for your support – especially our members. We’ve maintained our membership at £12 for the year, so why not join us and get involved if you haven’t already?
