Members of Friends of Teesside International Airport enjoyed a visit to the Aviation Academy at Newcastle Airport this week where they learned of the work that is done there, the courses they teach, and got to see some of the interesting aircraft and simulators they have.
The Academy is based on the south side of Newcastle Airport with its own hangar. Inside are a number of aircraft of different types, including private jets, light aircraft, military training aircraft and airliners. Here are some of the pictures of the visit:
Everyone enjoyed the tour and members commented on how surprised they were at just how hands-on the training is for students at the Academy, including engine strip downs and flight simulation tests.
Our thanks to Rod Reed who gave us a very informative tour.
