In late August we had an organised visit to the International Fire Training Ground on the eastern side of Teesside International Airport.
We were hosted by the always excellent Chris Brown, who is retiring soon and will be sorely missed.

We were talked through the many rigs and aircraft, both real and mock-up, that are located on the burning ground.
We also got to witness a team of students extinguish a fire on one of the rigs.

Our visit wonderfully coincided with the arrival of the IFTC’s “new” ex RAF SEPECAT Jaguar GR3A combat jet. To quote Chris, “If anyone sets fire to it they’ll get my foot so far up their behind… I’ll be making sure the fire tray is placed well upwind of it!”

The visit was organised by local aviation group Cleveland Aviation Society, and we extend our thanks to them for inviting Friends of Teesside International Airport.
The pictures here are from the visit.
