The Skylive Airshow is almost here! It takes place at Durham Tees Valley Airport on 28th May.
The show is going to be an amazing day for everyone, and we think it will do an enormous amount of good for our airport. Here’s why:
Everyone remembers the Teesside Airshow. It’s back!
It’s 26 years since the last Teesside Airshow. What had been a fixture for thousands of local people every summer at our airport ended and we lost that regular outing where we’d see so many great aircraft and fun on the ground. But, after that long wait, it’s back!
It’s the start of something big
This is the first new air show here, but all going well it is the first of MANY! Skylive are working on a rolling plan to bring an airshow to Durham Tees Valley every year. 2016 is the first one, but it is the start of something big. Everyone involved has huge ambitions for the event, bringing the best in flying machines, ground displays, music and fun, which will rival any other event in the north east.
We get to start the season
It’s the start of the 2016 air show season and we get to be one of the first shows to take place! The Typhoon pilot who will be displaying at the show has already Tweeted about how much he is looking forward to getting his airshow season off to a great start at the Skylive Airshow!
There’s something for everyone
Really, there is! The flying aspect is only part of the great event taking place this weekend. There’ll be loads of stalls, a fun fair, competitions, aircraft in the static display, companies putting on displays, bubble football, helicopter pleasure rides, classic cars and fire engines and a HUGE arena where the Army will be putting on a show all day long.
Then, once the daytime activities have finished, the music stage will light up for a bunch of great acts to entertain you till late at night.
It is truly a local event!
The guys behind Skylive are local, from Teesside. They have put an incredible amount of time, effort and money into bringing an airshow back to Teesside. Despite the disappointment of having to cancel the show in October, they have pulled through and come back bigger and better. Now everything is in place, and they have secured such amazing acts as the Red Arrows, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and Toploader.
It’s great value
A family of five can have a day of fun for only £35! It doesn’t matter if you’re into planes or not, there’s something for everyone. Kids will love the funfair and getting to meet the Red Arrows pilots in the static display. Adults will love the tunes at the evening music show. There will always be something going on, and the site is fully accessible, with 5,000 parking spaces.
If you haven’t got your ticket yet, make sure you do so quickly. You can pay on the door, but there’s a limit to the capacity of the site, so avoid disappointment by booking in advance here: http://www.skyliveevents.co.uk/
Whilst the airshow is not a FoDTVA event we’re incredibly pleased and proud to welcome it to our local airport.
